Recent pictures and Zoe at 8 months old

Zoe's first cheerios! We waited til she was 8 months old, and gave her cheerios, and as usual in regards to eating, we realized what were we waiting for. She loved them, and devoured them. No surprise there. She will be onto sweeter treats in no time.

It was so hot in New Haven, that we decided it was time to fill up the pool. Zachary was so excited when he saw it. And, Zoe's new baithing suit was adorable - love the cherries. Once we put the kids in, Zachary decided it was too cold and didn't want to sit, but Ms. Zoe LOVED it. She cried when we took her out! Pool time will probably happen pretty regularly this summer. FUN FUN.

Here is a cute one of baby Zoe showing off her new bow and her new teeth. She doesn't mind wearing a bow, and now that she has some hair, it will stay in. She is sitting up really well too and enjoys it a lot.

Mother's Day was lots of fun. Had a yummy lunch out. Also started our garden which is now sprouting, HOORAY!

No pictures of Glenn this entry, stay tuned for some of Glenn and Betsy's graduation ...

some sweet shots

Zoe is sitting up pretty well these days, but sometimes she needs to lean on her big brother. Zachary is able and willing, that is until he moves. By the way this how he smiles when we tell him to say CHEESE. We have to say, we feel so grateful that Zachary loves his baby sister so much and lets her get away with murder, already -- check out where her hand is yikes!

Zachary loves to eat on his placemats, but sometimes he does more than eat off of them.

Zoe is quite the ham, it was hard to choose just one picture from all the ones I got todaay. She smiles a lot and since she isn't crawling yet, she is easy to shoot. I suppose it helps that she is awfully cute too.

Zoe and Mama go to Bermuda

Zoe and I (Betsy) went to Bermuda to visit Aunt Jen and Uncle Alvar, who are living there for 2 years. It was great to see them, especially since Jen is pregnant -- and having quality time with baby Zoe was a good taste of what is to come for them. Zoe really enjoyed both Aunt Jen and Uncle Alvar, but I think she flirted with Alvar and he didn't seem to mind. We had great weather, and enjoyed many walks, had lunch outside, and Zoe took her first dip in the ocean. She LOVED it! While we were there, Zoe also got her first 2 teeth, and she was quite the trooper. Who wouldn't mind snuggling with Mama during the wee hours of the morning, even when cutting teeth. We can't wait to go back and visit them again but this time with Zachary and Daddy too. Incidently, Glenn and Zachary had lots of fun during their boys weekend including a visit to the mall, lunch dates, a party and more fun, but alas there are no pictures!

It's SPRING ... and Zoe is 7 months old!

Zoe at 7 months. Gotta love that smile. Zoe has had a busy month. She had her Simchat Bat aka her naming (see previous blog entry) and she is sitting up on her own (with pillows or mama nearby). She is getting better at eating and feeding herself baby cookies. How fast the time has flown by and how fun it has been.

To celebrate that Spring is here we all went to a new park. Zachary was so excited to try out all the new equipment and Zoe enjoyed watching all the kids play and taking her first swing ride (see below). Here the kids are taking a little break at the park. We took lots of pictures of our kids playing on this fine day so be advised, this blog entry is jam packed. We are so glad the nice weather has arrived and we can enjoy outdoor fun. Or as Zachary says IT'S SPRING and summer's comin'!!!

Zachary loves to test out new slides wherever he goes. Can you blame him, slides are FUN!

Zoe went for her first swing ride at the park. She didn't hate it and we thought she sure looked cute. She is still a bit small, but she holds her own. We had tested her out at home on our swing (which is a similar type) but hadn't put her legs through (if you can imagine) so this way is much better.

Please feel free to contribute to the Zachary and Zoe braces fund, any amount is greatly appreciated.

Zachary wanted to help his sister out so he held her hand, which is far better than if he had been pushing her we think.

Zoe really loves to eat ... as long as she can follow each spoonful with her thumb. And in case you were wondering she doesn't mind which thumb she sucks after each spoonful. Hopefully this habit will break before her wedding day!

Zoe's Simchat Bat and other goodies

On Sunday April 8, we celebrated a Simchat Bat (celebration of our daughter) to name (again - we had done it at Shul when Zoe was 3 weeks old) Zoe Claire/Shaina Zahara. Zoe is named for her Grandpa Stan's mother Sadie Schulman (Zoe/Shaina meaning beautiful) and for his birth mother who died when we was very youung Celia Schulman (Claire/Zahara meaning brightness). It was a beautiful ceremony and we were so thrilled to be surrounded by all of our family and so many friends as well as Zoe and Zachary's friends.

Here we all are as we began some readings for Zoe. Zachary was a big help as he lead the kiddush.

Uncle Brian and Aunt Rebecca are Zoe's Godparents. They held her during part of the ceremony. Also both sets of grandparents were present and read some poetry. Her Great-Grandma Rita was also present and she was the one who bought Zoe her beautiful purple party dress - complete with the matching headband!

Uncle Rabbi Yossi officiated the ceremony and here he is helping Glenn bless both Zoe and Zachary just as he does every shabbat.

Great-Aunt Marcia was here as well and Zoe really enjoys being with her (as does Zachary).

Grammy Ellen and Grandpa Stan brought Zoe her first Yankees cap.

Zoe has also started sitting up recently - although she isn't completely stable yet. Here she is sitting in her bath - a whole new world for her as I am sure you can imagine.

Zadie Marvin bought Zachary a lollypop before he left and Zachary enjoyed it for dessert one night. It is good to remember how much fun lollypops are.

We think Zoe is enjoying sitting up as much as we are enjoying watching her. We guess it wont be long before she is really moving, better buy that gate!

Spring is here

Now that spring is here, Zachary is getting ready to help Daddy cut the grass in the backyard. Now if only his mower actually cut grass, but don't tell him that.

Zachary was a big helper as we were getting ready for Passover. He "helped" Mama finish this ice cream sandwich so that the freezer would be chometz free.

Grandma Gaile (aka GG) enjoys a snuggle with Z & Z.

We celebrated Daddy's birthday during Passover with a special cake. Both Zoe and Zachary thought the candles were intriguing, and Zachary did a great job of helping Daddy blow out his candles. Zoe really wanted to try the cake, but we told her she had to wait about 6 months.

Great Grandma Rita came to visit and has been enjoying giving Zoe and Zachary lots of kisses. Zoe and Zachary have been enjoying the kisses too!

Zoe is 6 months old!

Zoe Claire turned 6 months old over the weekend. Gotta love this face she made in the first picture. To mark this stage in both their lives, we took Zoe and Zachary to have their portraits taken. Neither one was thrilled, but we did get a few keepers.

Zoe has developed a very sweet personality. She smiles all the time and likes to babble and make raspberries. She enjoys watching Zachary doing all his many activities. Her favorite person is Daddy ... as her face lights up as soon as she sees him. However when hunger sets in of course Mama is her favorite. Can't blame a girl for knowing what she wants. Despite her ever growing cheeks, she is small on the growth charts, so no need to worry that we are over feeding her.

This month we bought Zoe a doorway jumper (as shown here). She is just getting the hang of how it works although Zachary does enjoying "helping her" jump in it. She catches on quickly though and will be jumping high in no time.

This last picture is the only one we took on her real half birthday. We did sing happy half birthday to her in the morning but then had a busy day and never got a chance to take still pictures of her (we did shoot some video). So we wanted to get one shot on her actual half birthday - even if it was her sleeping peacefully in her crib. She is wearing one of her Mama's sleep sacks, her favorite thing to snuggle in at sleep time.
