seeing Joshua and picking strawberries

At the end of May we visited Maryland and Zachary and Zoe had lots of fun hanging out with their cousin Joshua. They shared bathtime, mealtimes and playtime, not to mentions snuggles! Aren't they adorable!

Zachary and Zoe went to pick Strawberries. It was lots of fun and full of surprises. Zoe normally doesn't really eat strawberries, but she went to town, eating pretty much everything she picked. Zachary was very helpful making sure to pick only red ones and put them in his own box and then dump them into the big box. When we went to pay we realized that Mama had dropped the keys while picking (they fell out of her pocket). Thankfully after a while someone picking found them!

Check out Zoe's face and shirt here, she was covered in strawberry, unlike her brother who manages to eat an entire berry in one bite!

Florida visit to GG and Zadie

At the end of May, Zachary and Zoe went to Florida with Mama (and no Daddy). They were great travelers and had a lot of fun catching up with GG and Zadie and enjoying summer fun. It was so good to spend time with Zadie now that he is feeling better. He even babysat while Mama and GG went shopping.
Zachary and GG were swimming buddies, although Zachary also could swim by himself (stay tuned for a video of him swimming).

Zadie is feeling much better these days and came to the pool with us. Zoe was especially smitten with her Zadie and sat with him by the hot tub.

GG helped the kids swim which was lots of fun, and we think she had fun too!

Here is Zachary swimming all by himself, it made Mama very proud and also thinking a lot about swimming lessons.
Zachary is pretty good at GG's computer games, and Zoe wishes she was too.
So GG and Mama took the kids to a local park and discovered that it had a ground fountain. The kids couldn't wait to get in there as they saw all the other kids cooling off and having fun. However, Mama who is always prepared, didn't have baithing suits, so the kids went in their clothes and perhaps that made it even more fun!

Zoe loves to climb into the toybox and somewhere there is a similar picture of her mother like this at this age.

Having fun at home

Zoe thinks it is okay to stand on Zachary's chair at the table and watch for birds (coming to visit our bird feeders) or squirrels -- who like to steal the bird seed. Problem is that when we tell her to sit down on her tush she does, but then climbs right back up as soon as we look away. So then when I decided to snap a photo she gave this cheesy grin. Oh my, what are we going to do with this girl!
Zoe looking pretty in pink now that spring is here!
After playing baby Moses in his school Passover play (see earlier post) Zachary discovered that he could play in the big baskets we have (to store the toys). This became a fun pastime for a few days but also a bit messy as the toys had to go somewhere.
Of course Zoe had to get in on the action, and then she had to hug all her animals. She is already so maternal. Pretty sweet.

Ok how rare that we get the two kids both looking at the camera, smiling and looking cute. This might just be one for a frame. Don't you agree?
Zachary got a little tired, I guess and took a rest in/on the basket. Meanwhile Daddy changed the settings on the camera and got this nice shot with this funky effect.

Family fun

Zoe has suddenly really taken to tackling various members of the family. Zachary doesn't seem to mind too much and lets her get away with it (for now). Soon she will figure out how to really tickle him when he is pinned and then he will be sorry he ever let her win!

A tender snuggle under the blanket - aren't they sweet!

During the week of Passover, we took the kids to Mystic Aquarium. The first exhibit was the Beluga Whales which the kids watched for some time from several vantage points. Here is Zachary watching for one of the whales to swim by.
We have a picture like this of Zachary going through a "rock tunnel" near the whale exhibit from when he was 1. See below after this picture of Zoe who couldn't fit between the rocks and wouldn't go through the rock tunnel.

Zoe had a little too much fun with a bowl of chocolate mousse and thought that the bowl might in fact make a nice hat ...
... or that chocolate mousse might be good for her hair or something. Straight to the bath young lady!

Our first miniature golf outing, and it was especially fun that the course theme was dinosaurs. Here is Glenn teaching Zachary how to putt.
Zachary found his own swing, good for him!

Pesach 2008

Zachary's class had their seder. Here is a shot of Zachary and some his classmates using the placemats they made. They also made their own matzah which was pretty good actually and nothing like the real stuff.

Zoe was sleeping when we arrived for the seder, so in true Montessori fashion, I pulled out a mat and let her finish her snooze on the mat. The shoe fell off and obviously she didn't notice. She got up in time to watch some of the pesach show the kids did and of course for dessert.
In the class show, Zachary played Baby Moses, and sailed along the Nile river in a basket. He was a pretty cute Moses.

Zoe strikes a pose on the red couch, even though she knows she is not supposed to be standing up ... what does Mama always say, feet on the floor or sit on your tushy!

DAYENU!

Seder first night ... Zachary demonstrated all of the plagues this year, including sunglasses, which Zoe borrowed, to represent darkness.

This golf ball was hail. He is wearing the headband he made at school to be baby Moses. Underneath he has on his kipah bought for him by his Uncle Yossi when he was a newborn.

Hope everyone had a nice Pesach! We enjoyed our week and we did some really fun activities as a family since Daddy took a few days off and Zachary was off of school. Stay tuned for pictures of some of our fun.

Glenn's Birthday

Glenn had a good birthday at home. We had a yummy birthday dinner with our friends Adam, Mona and Aidan and then Zoe had to hit the sack. She needed her beauty sleep. Then we had cake ...

Zachary looks a little worried cause Mama told him that these were not regular candles so he wasn't sure what that was going to mean

ARGH those darn trick candles, or as we told Zachary, "funny candles."
