Zoe 5 months and Zachary 2 & 1/2

Zachary turned 2 & 1/2 this month. He is talking so much these days and everyday learns new words. It is a dramatic difference in these last 4 months since he got tubes in his ears. We can tell he hears better as his pronunciation is much better. Also in the last week Zachary has been going on the potty multiple times throughout the day. We are getting much closer to being officially potty trained (we hope) and are very excited.

Over the weekend Zoe Claire turned 5 months old. She has been a busy bee this past month, learning to eat solid food, grasping at toys, and trying to roll over. She is especially cute these days making raspberries and smiling lots.
Zachary helped Grammy Ellen celebrate her birthday. He was so excited about the cake with sprinkles and of course the candles. He practiced singing Happy Birthday and blowing out the candles all day. He most definitely enjoyed the cake!

Zoe has been enjoying more of the toys and baby gear we have for her. She has figured out how to operate many of them, and finds the rattles and dangling toys especially stimulating.

We put Zoe in the highchair, although we forgot to adjust the straps from Zachary. Zoe was so pleased as we suspect that after watching Zachary eat so many times she thought - finally they are feeding me too. So she was happy to wear a bib and sample oatmeal for the first time today. After licking some off of my finger she didn't mind the spoon at all. I am sure she will be enjoying lots of other things in no time.



We just thought she looked too cute sitting in the highchair. And when the food came toward her she sure had a big grin - not that we were surprised.


It seemed only appropriate that she eat her first meal out of the pink bowl (which had been Zachary's) but we used a brand new spoon courtesy of Yale New Haven Hospital.





Zoe has also learned to make a new sound. Check out this video of her demonstrating her range of vocals and noises. Oh and don't worry we still take lots of pictures and movies of Zachary, but he is so interested in seeing himself on film that he runs to the camera while we are shooting. He will be back soon.

Zachary and Zoe shared a snuggle in the rocker before bath time recently. Zachary prefers giving Zoe his "head snuggles" so when we can get them to pose like this we do our best to get a picture. Doesn't Zachary look like a beatnick! We also have a short movie of Zoe laughing but we are having technical difficulties uploading it to the blog. Stay tuned ...

Having fun inside

Zoe is almost big enough to sit in the exersaucer. We stuffed some blankets in the front so she wouldn't fall over and her feet almost touch the bottom. Zachary is showing her all the gadgets she can push and pull on it. We think he is jealous he still doesn't fi in it. We can't wait until Zoe figures out that she can jump and turn in it too.

We think that the opportunity to overpower Zachary will be rare for baby sister Zoe. So we thought we should capture and share this rare occurance of her "pinning" her brother. Zachary was of course a good sport at least for that moment. Too bad Zoe didn't have a clue of what she was doing.
